Tefaria has been in the market with various vendors for over 5 years. Previously, we were known for our beard oil, which was one of the top-selling products on Daraz. During COVID, we were one of the few companies selling hand sanitizers at normal prices to benefit customers, even though ours was of far higher quality. We have always believed in delivering the best quality products that we and our families can use daily.

We believe in truly making a product that delivers what it promises. I’m sure you have been approached or have used many Vitamin C serums in your life. What if we told you that more than 95% of those (including the top 3 local brands in Pakistan) are using the exact same material bought from the exact same supplier in Pakistan? What if we also told you that the primary ingredient in all those Vitamin C and other serums by these companies, known as “Vitamin C 3-Glyceryl Ascorbate/Concentrate,” is of extremely low quality? You may have noticed complaints about their serums turning “yellow” or going bad. 

They didn’t go bad when the color changed to yellow; they were bad to begin with. You were putting glorified water on your skin.

When we moved into the serum market, we conducted rigorous testing on the same ingredients and found them to be of too low quality to use. To circumvent this, we went to the trouble of importing particular ingredients, which we couldn’t find good enough alternatives for in Pakistan. We believe in local production but not at the expense of quality. We had to import our vitamin concentrate and glyceryl from the USA, which costs us 5 to 6 times more than the cheap local alternative we could’ve bought in 5 minutes. Our serum was then skin-tested and proved far superior to other alternatives. It would shock you to know that just our vitamin concentrate in the serum costs more than a complete bottle of most local serums. We then went further and got custom solid boxes made—the same type of box that carries a phone safely in shipping—along with high-quality dropper bottles that make the serum long-lasting and let you use our more concentrated serum without wastage. All these costs add up, but we are proud of our product and would rather fail than sell a product we cannot stand by and use ourselves.
